Next year marks the 45th Anniversary of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and to celebrate, there are a number of fun new Hungry Caterpillar gifts available. Holly is a big fan (her first birthday cake was a hungry caterpillar!) and is really enjoying getting a chance to try out some of the new gifts featuring the iconic Eric Carle imagery.
Holly and I do a lot of messy activities together at home and I had bee on the lookout for an art apron for her - this Very Hungry Caterpillar tabard I just he ticket for painting, messy play or water play as it provides a wipe-clean, water-proof covering for clothing. I find it really easy to slip onto a very busy toddler because it has a simple elastic at the waist (no bands to tie!) - it doesn't protect long sleeves so you need to make sure to roll them up! This tabard costs around £8 and is available from Amazon, Jojo Maman Bebe and Fortnum & Mason.
Holly loves carrying her own lunchbox. I think she had lunchbox envy when her big sister started school in September! Now she has her own Very Hungry Caterpillar lunchbox for picnics and visits to friends and family. Holly is particularly taken with the over-the-shoulder strap but it has a carry handle too. The cover is firm and wipe-clean with a zip around the edge. The edges are a bit softer so it allows a little bit of flex if you are trying to squeeze in a bottle as well as lots of lunchtime snacks. This Very Hungry Caterpillar lunchbag costs around £14 and is available from Steamer cookshop.
Lara has been enjoying using her own porcelain Very Hungry Caterpillar plate, bowl and mug - this picture of her doesn't really do it justice!
The three-piece gift set comes in a REALLY beautiful presentation case and it would make a gorgeous first Christmas present or special christening or new baby gift. The luxury Portmeirion porcelain is dishwasher and microwave safe so you know you don't have to save it for extra special mealtimes only! The bowl is a perfect size for breakfast and the mug is definitely enough for a Lara-sized serving of tea before bed. I love this set, its beautiful and certainly one to treasure.
